Botanicare Hydroguard Bacillus Root Inoculant, 1-Gallon

Amazing product: makes hydroponics much easier. All you need to do is not nutrient burn your plants after adding this stuff.Keep in a cool dry place and will last for years.Also works as a hot composting innoculant with OUTSTANDING results. Literally overnight started cooking the bad guys out of a rotting layer that an arborist had sandwiched between the wood chips they dropped off.

This product is MUCH better then GH rapid root. Never had a problem with root rot, and have thick white roots with lateral branching.Update: While I read that product is good for 6 months after opening, I saw a drop off after about 4 months. I did not notice how much until I bought a new bottle and immediately saw improvement in my plants. It’s possible that I did something to decrease the shelf life, but I have a masters degree in microbiology.... and know how to apply it to this product. For my purpose it wasn’t a huge issue, but if you are growing high value plants consider replacing every 4 months. I may do an experiment to calculate viable bacteria over time to confirm this. Will update if I find something interesting.It’s not very expensive, and it works so well.

I wish I had before photos, because this stuff really works! My DWC hydroponic setup is outdoors, and I live in the south. So it gets hot and humid here. The last two seasons I've had severe issues with white slime and root rot even though the previous years were successful. All of my efforts to save them had been a failure.I found Hydroguard and had never even heard of it before. I followed the directions, and now I've got fuzzy white root growth and NO nasty slime. It's such a great feeling. My pepper plants should definitely be abundant this year. I highly recommend using this for your hydroponic systems. I'll be a return customer!

Don't need much.. I've been adding 1-2TSP per 5gallon during DWC res changes with great results. Doesn't change your PPM or PH. Keeps roots healthy.Update : This stuff really works. MY HYDROPONIC EXPERIENCE WITH HYDROGUARDI purchased this product well in advance in the event I would experience "root rot" in my "DWC" and top feed hydroponic system 3gal tanks. As I experienced nutrient stains followed by the onset of a slight slime / "root rot" I began to implement this hydroguard product. I read many of the reviews before purchasing and felt confident this was the product to get. I noticed one review where a customer experienced a "bad batch" or two before finding a local distributor for this product and the results improving. So when I began to experience "root rot" I implemented this product and what I noticed was a stabilization in the rotting of my roots. I was flushing my system every few days and cycling in all new nutrients and even cleaned the reservoirs with flushing / cleaning agents. I believe that my issue was not staying on top of proper cleaning and flushing but that my root system was so massive that it overcrowded the 3.5 gal. reservoir. Over time I noticed that the "root rot" subsided and the slime was not as abundant... However I never fully remedied the "root rot" but Hydroguard did however stabilize and to some or extent but not entirely did resolve the "root rot" ... SO IN CONCLUSION.... Hydroguard saved my grow, I was able to harvest my crop and it was an exceptionally large and high quality crop... However I like other customers may have got a bad batch.. I live in AK so shipping to me via Amazon can have it's difficulties and the beneficial bacteria may have suffered ?? So in CLOSING.. YES! I would recommend and I am about to purchase another batch and will update this review once again..

Made a noticeable difference in my last grow. It convinced me and I’ll use it for future grows.

I know people have different opinions on this stuff. But from personal experience it's a god send. There was a few weeks in my grow where I had upgraded lights but hadn't upgraded my exhaust fan. So temps went up to the 80s. So the water in my hydro system went up to mid 70s and I instantly got root Rot. I tried everything. Peroxide. Other products. Multiple clean and flushes'. Then the hydroguard. Now I was hoping for instant results. But you have to be patient. I guess it takes time for this magic to work. After 3 or 4 days of applying hydroguard I had given up. And the day I went to cut my plants down I took a peek at the roots before I killed the plants. And the hail Mary worked!!!! And has worked beautifully ever since. So use hydroguard as a preventative. And if you use it as a cure be patient. It will work. Just not right away
