This is the one
I tried the cheap led tape from China. Wired it to an unused toggle switch on my helm. It didn't work. I may have damaged it during installation. If it is that fragile I don't want it.I was also concerned about 2 other things. First, would the lights be too bright. I wanted a dimmable light. Second, blue light is technically illegal for boats on most bodies of water, reserved for police and coast guard. Enforcement is lax most places. For now.This product can switch between white, blue and red light. Red is actually best for night boating since it doesn't interfere with night vision. Remember high school biology - rods vs cones? No? Then just trust me. Blue is really cool and sexy though.You can easily switch colors and dim the light using only a two wire toggle switch.This solid strip light is clearly built to last. Much better than the cheap tape. Low profile and unobtrusive. I am really glad I spent the extra money. You get what you pay for.

Leaked
Nice bright light, I had 1 fail with water droplets visible under the lens. Went back and had a replacement ordered, it now has 3 white led instead of 2, now the product does not match the rest of the boat. Contacted Lumitec and rep said they are no longer IP66 rated, a design change was made. The second unit leak immediately again and now tech support is slow to respond. They are not standing behind the product this point.
