More expensive but worth it
I’ve purchased a couple different salt spreaders but they didn’t last. This one was FAR SUPERIOR to anything else I tried. On the others, the wheel that makes the salt spread would slip on the ice and snow and cause it to stop working - but not this one! Worked like a charm on my large driveway. The only drawback is that the if you’re not careful with the lever that opens the salt bucket, you could dump a lot of salt at once. Go slow at first to get the hang of it. Don’t waste your time on the cheaper salt spreaders. I haven’t tried it with grass seed or fertilizer yet.

super cheaply made find a different one.
CHEAP quality! It was easy enough to put together once i bought hardware for it because no bolts or even the pin in the hopper came with it. NOTHING! I had to make adjustments to it because the door would not shut completely without bending over & assisting with my hands. I am just a simple ex farmer but i could have designed stronger moving parts than this. I thought this would be a good middle of the road spreader for the money guess i was completely wrong. Not going to last a month!

Wow!!!! No other way to explain!
I have been running a snow removal service in NYC for the last 10 years. I've been through many of salt spreaders. This one, has the championship belt! Durability, light weight and an amazing, smooth spread. I'm using half the amount of salt due to the efficiency of this spreader!! Good job. You have a customer for life. Keep up the phenomenal work!

The assembly of mine totally botched out of the box.
This ultimately looks like a decent quality product. But two-hundred and thirteen US (with tax) is more than my Husqvarna weed wacker and that's a significantly more complicated tool than this. That said, it comes loose in a plain box (mine did anyway) folded at the handle to fit. It's only two bolts to get it into functional form. If you're lucky.I have a question posted wondering if the trap door should close all the way. Mine didn't because of a spindle coming up through the trap, and an angled "guillotine" sliding door that bumped into it when closed. After some nice chat via email with the company and some pictures sent, I figured out that that sliding door had been installed upside down. And reversing it required nearly completely disassembling the wheel suspension, the handles the transmission for the spreader. Then simply flipping the trap door over and reassembling it all back together. 1/2 hour labor, no special tools. And one of the tires doesn't hold air and has a very different valve than the other. Two stars - one for the nice person responding to my emails and one for it doing what it's advertised to do. It spread snow melt well. No stars for having to spend too much extra for the spreading skirt to control the throw, and the cheap vinyl cover for trhe bin. Neither is included.

Plastic gearing sometimes breaks
I have three of these they generally work well last one was a lemon ....The company was not issuing a refund even after I sent it back so I had to do a dispute with the Credit Card I usedSad ! That is not where the markets are right now !This isn't the 70's

Excellent
Very little assembly required. Spreads well. Light weight so you can carry it empty if needed. Pneumatic tires work great in gravel.

Hardware missing
The unit looks like it will perform well enough, the weather hasn't been cold enough yet this fall to use it. However, upon arrival, the wing nuts to secure the handle in the upright position and the cotter pin to attach the rod that controls the flow were missing. Lucky for me, I have plenty of those type things laying around, but many people wouldn't. Seems like somebody wasn't up to doing their job at the factory. Then, you don't get instructions or anything, I had to google the company, and found their website (nothing in the box to indicate any of this), then found instructions on their support page. Could be better for that kind of money I'd think.

Great labor saver
I bought this because I live in Alaska. For years I have carried a bucket and scoop to lay down ice melt, it works but it is actually labor intensive when you go through a hundred pounds a day. This spreader has been a life saver. The flow rate is high, so you have to work fast, but being able to push instead of carry a bucket has cut my work time by more than half.
