The Giving Tree (Hebrew Edition)

Gave this to my baby nephew for Hanukkah - my favorite children’s book translated into Hebrew. Was also great for his sister who’s learning how to read Hebrew - practice for her while she reads to her baby brother!

I don't like it in Hebew.

Our daughters grew up reading this book in English. Now that we have a grandson and have been buying books in Hebrew for him, it just makes sense that he has the book.

Read it in English, this month discovered in Hebrew the correct spelling in Hebrew of the Yiddish word for "leaf" ends (not begins) with a character not unlike the graphic shape of a Liberty Elm tree with a short pointless "i." Good? I dunno...

Love this book and my kids love it too!

I loved "The Giving Tree" when I was a kid. The Hebrew version is a great way to introduce kids (or adults) to simple Hebrew phrases and structure in a fun way. The print was large enough for a beginning reader to read, and the vowels are printed in the book which is also a good thing. I teach fifth grade Hebrew in a religious school, and I read this to my students on Tu b'Shvat. It was a great choice and they loved it!

ページの上部に不要な空白ができてしまったのをごまかすために、多数の線が描き加えられている。ほとんどのページにその雑な書き足した線があり、見苦しく、線だけで描かれた本来のイラストの良さを損なっている。「どうせ描き加えるならもっと丁寧に描けばまだましだったのになんだこれは！？」というくらい雑な修正なのだ。この点で星2つとした。また、本文に使用されている紙が安物のお絵かき帳のような「普通の白い紙」で絵本としては耐久性が心配な感じ。この用紙については白黒のペン画の雰囲気を出すための使用かもしれない。話の内容はベストセラーの翻訳版なのでとても良い話で、子供より大人受けする話です。星５つ。

I know this to be a wonderful story about value, appreciation and service, but the copy I was sent was written in Hebrew and had to be returned! Be careful when purchasing - there were no English versions available at the time.

I was sent the Arabic version!
