Tabac Original By Maurer & Wirtz For Men. Shaving Cream 3.6 Ounces

I purchased Tabac as I was searching for some additional shaving creams to try aside from the dreaded canned stuff, or the several that I had experience with. I have been DE shaving for a couple years, and took the plunge wholeheartedly into the ritual. It truly is a ritual. I have used TOBS Sandalwood, Proraso Red, AOS Lavender, and Speick.I am a pretty tough grader. If someone is willing to spend their money on a product, I feel that is my responsibility to provide honest feedback of the product. That is one of the biggest pluses for using Amazon, is the access to the community.For Tabac, the lather was really disappointing. I find that I have to use more product than I have to use with the TOBS or Speick, or AOS. It also takes a little bit more work to get it whipped up into the froth level that I like. Maybe I was spoil by TOBS as that was my first non-canned cream.Now, on the lather alone, I probably would have given it only 2 stars, but the smell. The scent of it is its saving grace. I wish I was keen enough, or poetic enough to describe it accurately. It honestly makes me willing to overlook the lack of lather. From the other reviews, it appears to be a fragrance that you either love or hate. I guess I firmly fall into the love camp.If it was only a better lathering product, I would have given it 5 stars and it would be my favorite by a healthy margin. Would I buy it again? Yes. Is it my favorite? No. That still falls to the TOBS line. But I have ordered a bunch of other products, so that may not hold true much longer.

I've tried several creams and soaps over the years, and this is the absolute best, I get a good smooth shave with zero irritation. I think I can safely say I found a winner.

Tabac shaving cream doesn’t produce peaky, voluminous lather. However, it somehow manages to offer excellent performance and superior skin protection. It’s still possible to build lather using a brush and bowl but this stuff really shines as a brush-less cream. After a shower, I put a small, toothpaste-sized portion into my hands and rub it into my stubble once for a three pass shave. I use a double edge safety razor and because it protects so well, it is my one go to cream that I can depend on if I need to shave in a hurry. The fact that it comes in a tube and delivers top notch performance without the requirement of a brush also makes it ideal for traveling.The scent was launched in 1959. It is strong, unabashedly masculine and evokes images of times past. It’s described as a blend of lavender, citrus and warm florals (including tobacco blossom). Something in it reminds me of neroli which may be the citrus note but I’m not sure about the rest. If you’re looking for a quality shaving cream with a unique, masculine scent - independent from the synthetic aquatic scents which flood the market today - I think you’ll really enjoy this. Tabac truly is great stuff and it’s an absolute must try for any wet shaver. Its performance and vintage scent offer a surprisingly unique change of pace that will not disappoint!

I have been using Tabac for 40 years now and sourcing it could be pricey (usually from ShaveMac in Germany). Smallflower cut that cost down considerably and shipping was timely. I have not broken into them yet but assume they will be fresh. I have on rare occasion bought from US distributors and found the product a tad off.I had read reviews in the past about users being upset it didn't foam. This is a shaving cream as stated not a foam. You'll need a shaving brush. It really does provide a wonderful close shave with the very hint of scent of dad's Mercedes (with the real leather) and fine Honduran cigar.I love the smell of Tabac in the morning. It smells of ....success.

Tabac is such a wonderful scent. I find I like the stick or puck version of Tabac shaving soap better for its slickness, but a small dab of this cream produces a massive quantity of lather that is really surprising. I find the scent to be very enjoyable. Unique and unforgettable, I really feel a bit sorry for those who don't care for the aroma. It seems to affect people strongly, one way or the other. True decadence and luxury are achieved if you mix  Tabac Original Shaving Soap Stick 100 g  with this cream for an un-rivaled shaving experience...If you like the scent, that is.

Good cream that takes a bit more effort to lather but once it does its good just nowhere near as good as other creams or tabac shaving soap.

Bought it because of the soap. This cream is not nearly as good as the soap. Scent is good, but performance is lacking cushion and glide.

Pleasantly suprised. The scent is not overpowering and I don't need any pre shave oil when I use it. I will buy this again.

I have been buying this for over 20 years and I consider it the best shaving cream I have ever tried. It creates a great lather, softens the skin and lasts for ages as you only need a quantity the size of a pea for each shave.

love this stuff. great smell, prefer it to the shaving soap which I had been using for years. Use it with a brush, and it gives a great creamy lather and no razor burn. highly recommend it.

I've tried many expensive soaps as much as £30.00 for a potThen I got Tabac Soap which smells great, today I received this Tabac Cream and its miles better than the soapIt smells fantastic, once lathered up you get to apply the cream 3 times off the same brush with rich laver without having to use form the tubeVery impressed very nice smell excellent product I'm going to use this in future by far the best and at £6.00

I love this stuff...if you like a musky scent ..dont buy...this is not musky but flowery and still manly
