Tasty and Convenient Dried Mushrooms
Why did you pick this product vs others?:We like mushrooms in our house but don't always have them on hand. These dried mushrooms are perfect for throwing in soups, gravies, spaghetti, or casseroles. They rehydrate well, taste great, and have a good texture. The paper bag they come in has a zipper top, so I didn't find the need to transfer to another storage container once opened. I'll buy these again when this bag is empty!

Fresh mushrooms are hard to keep.These are readily on hand and make sure to save the broth from reconstituting!

Good flavor, weird texture
Most of the mushrooms hydrate well, but I found that there were some tougher/chewier pieces that put me off - even after soaking and cooking. I don't know what kind of mushroom it was (the flat pieces were flat and dark), but it was similar in color to a portobello mushroom cap. The texture doesn't work for me and, sadly, ruins a dish unless the mushrooms are completely pureed. The other types of mushrooms in the mix were tasty.

Oyster mushroom heavy, but still tasty and a good price
Way more Oyster than others, though that may vary seasonally. But if you look at the price of just Oysters, this is still a good deal. And, they are tasty.I use these differently than most probably do. I use my food processor to chop them into bits about 1/8" in size, but that does leave some more powdered residue, so I use a strainer to separate the powder and put it in a spice jar and put the larger bits in a larger container. I use the larger pieces in all kinds of stuff, but especially meatloaf and Salisbury steak for flavor and as a non-bread filler. The powder I add to gravy. The powder can really make a difference in some foods without a noticeable change in consistency. It even elevates Hamburger Helper stroganoff. Just be sure to add when there is time for it to absorb lots of liquid.

Very good flavor and great variety included
This is actually a very good buy! Great variety of mushrooms included in the package very easy to rehydrate. I've added them the soups and to ramen. These are all natural and are said to not include MSG. Great buy when you're looking for something to prepare fast.
