Single Fineness gauge, with a spatula, stainless steel by forging (4Cr13) is made with a certain slope of the groove. Scale in microns (um), Hagemeyer (Hegman), mil (MILS), the accuracy of fineness plate grooves ± 1μm. M expressed by the degree of dispersion, as the particle size becomes smaller, the value of the gradual change in fineness. Correspondence between micron, mil and Hagemeyer as follows: 1 mil = 25.4 um, 1 um = 0.001 mm 0 Hegman = 4 mil, 100 um 4 Hegman = 2 mil, 50 um 8 Hegman = 0 mil, 0 um Hagemeyer (Hegman) is usually represented by a capital "H".

Soaked in Oils, Rough scraper surface
The grind gauge channel is OK. The other parts are not as finely ground/ polished. The scrapers feel very rough to the bare hands. They should be more polished to remove the roughness. Another big negative is too much oil on the metal surface. It claims the metal is stainless steel, but it is "soaked" in oil to prevent rusting. This practice is BAD for coating industry because we do not want oily contamination when doing a fineness grind check. I had to use heavy detergent to wash off the oil on the metal pieces. But the interior of the nice packaging is soaked with oil. I had to wash the entire packaging cushions and box with detergent. It still did not get rid of all oils. I then had to use a latex paint to coat the interior foam panels to keep the surface dry. Then I laid the metal pieces back for storage. It would be much better if the product is supplied without oils on the metal.
