This worked on my locs!
I've only used this once since I purchased it, but it did exactly what I needed it to do. I read any and all reviews from users who had locs to get info on how it worked for them. And most of the reviews said it took a long time to dry, but that it worked. Well, now I can confirm!I have locs that are about 3ft long, and one of my main concerns when washing my hair is whether they'll dry all the way through and how long it will take. So I'll report on that for anyone else who may have the same questions.1) First I made sure to remove as much moisture from my hair (after washing and before twisting it) as possible, so that it wouldn't get messy in the bonnet. I did have to get strategic on how I loaded my locs up into the bonnet once I was done twisting them though. I dried them in sections. I dried my scalp first, then put the rest of my locs in the bonnet to dry the middle sections and the ends. Then about every 30 minutes until fully dry, I would part my hair at different places to allow a different section of my hair to receive the maximum air flow and dry.2) It generally takes about 3-4 hours to dry my hair all the way through in a shop, and guess what? It took about 4 hours to dry my hair under this bonnet on Medium. And all of the things I did in the first section are all of the things I have to do when I'm under the shop dryer too. I mean, don't get me wrong, 4 hours is a long time, but I put on two movies and by the time I finished the second movie, my hair was done. I was terrified that I'd be under there for 6+, so for me, this was a nice surprise.3) The dryer is loud. Maybe it's because I read previous reviews that I wasn't annoyed by how loud it was, but it was loud. I sometimes put the captions on on my TV, but I HAD to put the captions on if I wanted to know what they were saying in the movies. My dog didn't care much for the noise either. But by the 2nd hour she got used to it to the point that she even fell asleep to the nice loud hum of the dryer. lolI didn't take any pictures at the time, but I was surprised by how well my hair turned out. I think I was so tired by the time my hair was dry the I was just ready to go to bed (I washed my hair at night.. I won't do that again). My old hair shop is now charging nearly $250 for wash and loc maintenance, which is just ridiculous. I know that I'm paying for the service of having someone else care for my hair and massage my scalp and all that, but the longest part of the whole service is mostly me sitting underneath the dryer. I spend about 1 hour at the wash bowl and in the service chair. The rest of that time is me sitting under the dryer for 3 hours. So, yes, I think this is ridiculous. Until I find another shop, I'll have to find another way to treat myself to something nice and save myself $250. Or maybe I'll just keep doing my own hair and find other ways to spend (save) that money. If I have any complaints at all, they don't have anything to do with the actual dryer. The dryer cord is about 2 ft long. It would be nice if it was longer, but it's doable. And besides being loud, my parted off locs weren't as clean as when my hairdresser does it, but it wasn't that far off though, and I'm hoping that I'll get better at it the more reps I have at it.I'll upload pictures next time I do my hair. I'm about 2 weeks out, so I'll wait and take fresh pics next time.

Best bang for your buck
This is my second dryer in this style. I purchased this one at least two years ago to assist me with a monthly conditioning treatment. The salon costs were $30 each and this allowed me to be budget savvy. I like that it has a long cord, 3 heat settings and the bonnet is very durable. Would definitely purchase again.

Not too bad for non-textured hair
I must admit I do not have textured hair but my hair is very long and very difficult to blow dry for some reason. This really helps to take the edge off of the dampness in winter. It has a clever design with the hose (located in the dryer itself) that locks into the bonnet (also located in the dryer.) The bonnet fits my long straight hair. I do have to manipulate my head around to get the air on all sides. (Again, I believe this is just because of my hair type.) Occasionally, the hose does pop out of the bonnet though. The hose and the bonnet get very hot. I don't think it's any louder than any other dryer. The only smell I detect is from the bonnet. As mentioned, the hose and bonnet fit inside the dryer motor. The motor part is actually very thin. I put it in a tote bag (the kind you might use for the beach) for storage and transport.

All that hair dryer
Yall! This thing is amazing,! It's lightweight, I love that I can take it to my living room and watch TV with it! And most of all it cuts during my hair time in half! I only turned the dryer to medium and it gets super hot! My hair was dry in half hour. I have a short pixie cut I normally sit for an hour, not anymore having this! I promise yall. Get it..this made my damn day!

Dryer as an Instrument of Torture
This Gold ‘N Hot hair dryer is absolutely horrible. It’s possibly the worst product I’ve ever purchased through Amazon Prime. It is so poorly designed and cheaply made, it should not be on the market at all, let alone for the price being asked (I paid $34.85 in July 2023). The only decent aspect of it was the outer, Amazon packaging; but once opened, the horrors began, which I’ll recount in the order I encountered them. The dryer parts (bonnet, electrical cord, & hose) came jammed so tightly into their respective openings, I’m surprised I didn’t rip the bonnet struggling to pull it out. The edges of the opening have sharp corners that cut into my hand and fingers. While this didn’t break the skin, it was painful. Extracting the hose was no less fun. Reading other negative reviews about this, I’d intended to leave the hose out had I kept this device, but i returned it today. The bonnet is NOT designed for all size rollers, as it claims. I set my hair with jumbo (not orange juice size) rollers and then had to fight to get the bonnet opening over my head. [Note: I used larger rollers in high school and easily placed an old-fashioned hair dryer bonnet over them.] As I struggled the the restricted opening, the edges of the sharp plastic around that opening cut painfully into my hands. I had to use so much force to get it over the rollers, it pulled most of the rollers loosely to one side. Then once in place, the same sharp edges of the bonnet, cut into my forehead and ears like porcupine spines. Ow!!! I had to place tissues and head bands under the sharp edges to protect my skin. The hose is way, way WAY TOO SHORT!!! And it’s too heavy! This horrendous design—probably to save money—makes Gold ‘N Hot look truly cheap. I wanted to dry my hair leaning back in bed. No way! Once I secured the hose to the bonnet, there was nowhere I could place it without it pulling uncomfortably on the bonnet. I finally ended pulling it off, resetting my hair with a lot fewer curlers, putting the porcupine bonnet back in place (with the cushioned protection) and drying it at a table with a 3-foot tall stool next to me on which I set the dryer. Even with this, I could barely move without the short hose pulling uncomfortably. It's LOUD. While not the worst feature, this is annoying. And really? In this day and age of advanced technology? The weight of the hose, even when the dryer was placed inches from my head, is so heavy, it continuously pulled on the back of the bonnet, which, in turn, pulled the bonnet tightly against the top rollers, so that achieving consistent drying throughout all the hair was impossible. The back was dry long before the front was. After all this torture, my hair, while completely dry, turned out looking lifeless and frizzy—it’s smooth and shiny when I allow the rollered hair to air dry.I wonder if it’s Gold N Hot employees who gave this abysmal product so many 5-star reviews. Maybe Prime cannot control that. But hopefully more honest reviews will get this torture instrument off the market.
