The kit was a big hit with my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. She loves the magnifying glass, carries it around all day, looking at things inside the house and in the yard, especially the bugs. The binoculars, which focus easily for everyone, are another hit. They’re low power, I’d have guessed less than 4x, but they work and she enjoys them. She likes the flashlight, and is a pro at cranking it. The whistle is of course a hit. The compass may be beyond her, though she wants to go outside and start using it.The kit comes nicely packaged, with each item in an individual box. The carry bag is bright and fun.We had three days to play with the kit this time, and it had lost none of its luster. I can imagine her enjoying this gift for years.Highly recommended!

I bought three sets in different colors for my three grandchildren. They love playing outside with the set that has binoculars, whistle, magnifying glass, whistle & compass. I liked that the sets came in different colors with coordinating colored items!

The media could not be loaded. I bought this kit for my 5 year old daughter who is doing nature walks for her Kindergarten Science this year. I wanted her to really be able to learn about the world around her and make the walks more fun by having things like a magnifying glass and binoculars. There are a ton of options out there and it took me forever to decide on a kit, this one. For the price I think it isn't too bad. There are pros and cons, like anything, but overall I am happy with it.It arrived neatly packaged and each box had an image of what was inside. I thought that was really cool. The bag it came with was definitely big enough to hold everything and more. The kit came with a large bag, small plastic whistle and cord, hand charging flashlight, compass, binoculars and case, and small magnifying glass. Everything needed for a nature walk! If there was anything missing it would be a couple containers for bugs and leaves.I would say the pros are:The kit is the minimum needed for a nature walkEverything fits in a small backpack or the bag it came withMy 5 year old could use the whistle without any troubleThe flashlight doesn't need any batteries, it is hand chargedThe magnification on the binoculars and magnifying glass is just enough where kids are entertainedThe binoculars come with a small cord to go around the child to keep it from falling. It also has a small case to store it inI would say some cons are:The bag was VERY big for my 5 year old and I ended up just using a mini backpack insteadAlthough the kids loved the binoculars I couldn't see very far with them and couldn't find any birds on our walksThe flashlight is AWESOME but we haven't taken any night walks yet. If we do I will update my reviewI couldn't use the whistle. But my 5 year old could!The magnifying glass was pretty small and actually hurt my eyes a little. But my kids seemed to use it just fine. I just wish it was bigger.In the compasses defense, I am not very good at using one. That being said, I couldn't figure it out and therefore couldn't teach my child how to use it. If I figure it out I will update this review.Honestly, looking at other reviews for different kits, I don't think this was a bad kit. It seems like most binoculars and magnifying glasses are just okay and the compasses aren't made the greatest. I think for the money this was a decent kit. I think the company cares about their product since they put in extra effort to label item's box. And most importantly, my 5 year old loved using the kit and is excited for every walk we go on. If I could go back I am not sure whether or not I'd choose a different kit. This one has served its purpose for a good price (I did get this one sale so it was a few dollars cheaper than the regular price) and although I had wanted one with containers it is very easy finding plastic containers to take along with us.

This was a gift for our grandson’s preschool grad. There was a small gathering afterwards with a few other grads and families. This was a hit with all the kids. I think the compass intrigued them the most since most probably had never seen one before. One kept saying imagine a flashlight with no batteries WOW! You wouldn’t think a little magnifier would entertain them. Once they were shown to hold it close and not use it like a monocle lol it was a successThe bag is really not a backpack but is an excellent addition since all pieces can be storedA super bargain that will not only entertain your child but open a whole new world!!!

We bought this for my 5yo grandson, and he loved it! He had everything out, examining each item, before placing them all inside the included sack and took off down the hallway for a Christmas safari!! This is a quality product, including the sack, and is perfect for gift-giving for this age group and perfect a boy or girl. After the hall-way safari, we built a “beaver dam” under the kitchen table and got to use every item in the bag. It was a real delight to see this activity rather than technology getting in the way of real fun. Heck, maybe I’ll buy another one, make my own beaver dam, get a glass of wine, and hide away from the world for just a small moment of peace and quiet. 😉

Pros:+ Quite possibly the only decent toy binoculars on the market.+ Flashlight works well and can be hand-powered by kids.+ Compass and magnifying glass work as needed.+ The whistle doesn't work the greatest. (Good for indoor sanity as a parent.)Cons:- All items feel like they're made with fairly cheap/brittle plastic.- Compass is a little overcomplicated for a child (and some adults.)- The whistle doesn't work the greatest. (Bad for outdoor sanity as a parent.)Notes:I was fairly amazed to discover some of the features of this kit after somewhat blindly purchasing it just for the child-sized binoculars. The flashlight has to be the best item in this entire thing, as it's hand-powered and in a child-friendly way.

This kit is really cute. Lots of important gear. I would only recommend it for very young children, 2-4, that don’t really need the items to work. The binoculars do not actually change focus in any way. So for kids to play explorer, they are great. For older kids I would get an actual compass and small adult binoculars-real tools, not cheap pretend ones.

Great starter kit for outdoor adventures. My 3 year old loves it! The binoculars don’t have much magnification but fine for that age. Impressed with the compass and flashlight. It does come with a whistle so be aware if you have toddlers

Bought for my grandson’s 5th birthday. The item came neatly packed in a small box with matching items individually packed - great fun to open! Looks good quality and the torch even came with batteries!

Really poor quality. Not worth 3 dollars… really disappointed. Compass, flash light and whistle was broken next day. Do not buy!

Arrived in good condition. The kit is comprehensive and fun. My son loves it. He made full use of it during our trip to the Botanical Gardens. For a kit with so many tools in it, it is at an affordable price. A good buy!
