Great sounding speakers for the price!
I decided to uncrate my old Onkyo amp because I needed to have powerful sounds back in my life. Unfortunately the speakers I had were also vintage so that was pretty dismal. I've always known that Klipsch is product because they have been around and we used their "horns" for our high end back in the day of me being a musician. These RB-61's do not disappoint, at all. For a shelf speaker, they pack a punch. Of course you will need to tweak them a bit for your taste (Buy an equalizer for your amp) and you will be surprised. They can handle power but be careful not to push the bottom too much. Placement is crucial for dispersion and the ports help with the subs.Overall I am very pleased with my purchase...

Placement is key.
These speakers sound great when you find the "sweet spot" with placement. If they sound tinny or muffled, they're probably too close together. Don't worry about having them too far away from each other, they'll easily fill a good sized room. They're very detailed, especially with intimate classical music such as solo piano or guitar and small string concertos. If you lean more towards heavy rock music, the higher the volume the better the sound. AC/DC's "Shoot to Thrill" sounded great through an Onkyo 100 watt receiver at a volume level at about 70. Absolutely shook the house with no real need for any type of sub and felt like they had plenty of more room to go. The high sensitivity make these things very loud with no noticeable distortion. I currently have them paired with a lower end receiver and love them.

They're KLIPSCH, the name says it all! You just can't go wrong with them! I snapped em up when they're on sale! Really happy with these speakers!

Good speakers, except........
The sound field is very narrow. Sound dispersion is totally frontal. When I tried them out of the box, I heard very little sound. They were on the floor & I was standing, but when I sat on the carpet in front of them, they sounded very nice. VERY directional speakers...dispersion could have been better by design.

Impressive
We had been running a VSX LX-105 as a 5.2.2 setup with a set of Andrew Jones Atmos speakers. Klipsch came out with updated speakers at an updated price and I found the previous year’s speakers on sale all over Amazon. We added a few at a time and after getting the first ones and being impressed with the quality and sound, we eventually got enough Klipsch Reference series to fit out our new LX-505 7.2.2 setup. We got two R-120SW subwoofers, a pair of RB-61 II fronts, a pair of R-40SA Atmos, a RC-62 II center and RIC-65 ceiling surrounds. All of them are heavy, quality speakers putting out impressive highs, mids and lows. Used the Dirac Live sound setup that came with the LX-505 and the resulting sound stage is perfect. Could not fault this setup in any way. Sooo glad we upgraded to the 505, Dirac and Klipsch.

Very good speakers especially for movies .
This is really good speakers especially considering the price .Overall sound reproduction is fantastic ,There is a lot of clarity and openness to the sound and the credit goes to the horn tweeters .Sound stage is very wide and you can hear every single detail of the music you are listening to .Female vocals are superb on these ,it's like the singer is in the room with you ..Male vocals it depends on the tonality of the singer and how the recording was done but overall is good but not best to my ears .Bass is really good ,punchy and goes very deep to the point that you don't necessarily have to use a subwoofer .Also these speakers are very forgivable to poor recordings ,compared for example to other speakers that I had (Elac debut 2.0 b6.2) they liked only good recordings, you could here the quality degradation but not on the Klipsch it makes poor recordings sound good also .The only big issue I found is that these can be very bright depends on the recording of the songs .I encountered songs that I wasn't able to listen to in more than low volume because of this .So my recommendation is using warm amplifier and dac to compensate for the brightness .For movies its a match from heaven.. very very good ! ,its like you are in the movie and not just watching from the outside , I would have given it 10 stars for movies if possible :)Now after using them for 6 months I was getting tired of the brightness and I switched to another speakers The Triangle BRO3 that I found to be just perfect for music with the right balance of treble mid range and bass though less punchy and deep compared to the Klipsch .But still when I watch a movie I immediately switch to the Klipsch ,they are that good for movies !So bottom line is, if you have the right gear to compensate for the brightness these speakers are superb .

These speakers sound very good even with 20 watts per channel!
I’m using these speakers with my vintage Pioneer SX-580 receiver and PL-200 turntable. They sound so good! I’m sure they will sound even better as time goes on and they get broken in.
