I'm curious-- does anyone have smooth textured splotches all over their board? I have used the board once and am displeased about the discoloration.
I do not want to purchase a lot of unnecessary cleaning solutions for this board, What is the best cleaning method you have found.
Are both sides usable? I see from the reviews that it has rubber feet on one side. If I wanted to, could I remove those so that I can use both sides?

High quality cutting board.

High quality product. I examined it closely on receipt and found no apparent flaws. The glued joints are tight and even and the wood grain and color are attractive. Well worth the expenditure.

Good quality wood board

I wanted to replace all of my plastic cutting boards with wood, and have been very satisfied with this one. It’s a bit heavy, and may be tricky to wash depending on how big your sink is, but works for us. The feet on the bottom make it non-slip. I have been conditioning it regularly with food-grade mineral oil, which is definitely necessary to maintain the board long-term. It does show knife marks, but it’s a cutting board so that’s kind of par for the course. For the price compared to other wood boards, I’m very satisfied with this purchase.

This is nice so that the bottom does not stay wet while ...

This cutting board is just as described by the seller. It also was shipped promptly. It is very solid and large enough to do most anything that I require. One reviewer mentioned marks that appeared to be water stains on the surface of the new board. I can see some of these on this board as well. They appear to be part of the wood pattern when it was cut. The ones on this board are quite faint and when I oiled it they blended in even more. They are not distracting for me.The back side of the board has small rubber feet that elevate it about 1/8 of an inch or so off of the counter. This is nice so that the bottom does not stay wet while I cut things if the counter happens to be wet when I set it down. The finish is smooth and the corners slightly rounded. The joining of each piece/glue is very well done. I have cut on it and have only left very minor marks on it. Of course, I have not beaten it with a meat cleaver either. :) We primarily use cutco knives, just to give you an idea of the sharpness and hardness of the blades being used on the surface of this cutting board.Overall, it is a very pretty cutting board that is also sturdy. With proper care this will last my lifetime and hopefully be able to be given to one of our children one day. I think they are already anticipating my demise so that they can get my wood and cast iron kitchen pieces!! We have begun selecting items that can last and maybe even become an heirloom one day. This is one of those items that is pretty enough and constructed well enough that it could become one of those items.I would definitely purchase this item or suggest it to a friend. It would also make a fantastic piece in a kitchen gift set.

Decent cheap board but poor customer service

I bought the board exciting to start my journey using less plastic in the kitchen. It is nice and large and made it fun to prep veggies. It also looks very nice. On the con side, it scratches rather easily and doesn’t hide as well as other boards. I treated with board oil after each wash and with beeswax once a month, and can still see scratches especiallly from bread knives. My biggest complaint is the customer service. The rubber feet came off after less than 3 months of careful use - customer care response was “go buy yourself new feet at a hardware store”laughable for something that is supposed to be buy it for life. Save yourself the trouble and put together some money and buy a Boos board or boardsmith.

Picked up right where its smaller brother left off as daily driver; expect it to last like my other board that's still working

I purchased this board because I was looking for a bigger cutting surface and have been very pleased with its smaller brother (14in square version, http://www.amazon.com/Ironwood-Gourmet-Acacia-14-inch-1-25-inch/dp/B000RKRMOA/) for 6+ years - picture of both boards stacked together is attached with this review. It's been over a month since I've received the product so I'll do a quick clarification/review (and update maybe a year later). When I first got the board I:- took off the rubber pads, and scraped off all the glue leaving only wood surface- scrub entire board with coarse salt and hot water- let air dry on a wire rack for full day- apply mineral oil liberally to board, let sit for overnight- apply conditioner (with beeswax), let sit for overnight- board looks good to go!Reading some of the more recent critical reviews, seems quite a few had bad luck with excess glue on the surface and/or warping. Compared to my old board, I would agree the person applying the glue for the rubber pads doesn't seem to be as careful as my copy of the board also had some excess glue around the pads - but fortunately nothing to the extent of some of the others here. In any case they were easily scraped off with a petty knife. On warping: I place my board on top of a heavy-duty mat at all times, air dry after washing on a wire rack, and both my old board and new board remain flat. Not sure if it's because I live in a forced-air heating environment that the air is dryer? Or that I don't soak the board or leave it wet on the counter? In any case, I am attaching picture of the board and its flatness. Some of the warping complaints were around Oct 2015 and I got mine Nov 2015 so either they fixed the issue or I got lucky. I will report back in a year but I do expect this new board to perform the same way the old one did but as it is, I'm only giving this a 4/5 for now since it's only been a month. So far this board is a pleasure to use in my daily cooking tasks, with its beautiful end-grains, plenty of working surface, enough heft to provide stability (yes this is not a 2.5 or 3in thick block like some of the more famous brands, but then again this also doesn't cost $200+), and easy to clean (no holes/handles to hide food bits).
