I'm delighted with this alarm clock!
I am delighted with this alarm clock. Once you learn how to use it, which is my only negative, then you have an amazing machine. I really like is that you can be awoken to 8 different sounds. I enjoy the ocean waves, I have a hard time finding that. Also I like that you can decrease the brightness of the clock by just pressing the snooze button. I usually turn it off, by pressing the snooze button, and when I want to see the time, I just press the snooze button once.I did have trouble fully understanding that you can set the volume for the machine and you also have to set the volume for the clock as well. They are 2 separate and that is the most confusing thing. So I typed instructions for myself and why not share with you.To turn on radio hit âpowerâ button.. I think that is how to control volume.. hit âPowerâ then volume.. ( not sure if there is any other way to do volume? ) You can just just hear Fm only. For sounds press âpowerâ then sounds and keep pressing the sounds button till you find the sound you like, there are like 7 soundsâŚSetting the time- press the âtime setâ button in the back and hold for 3 seconds, use the volume button to make the time earlier or later, then the minutes hit âtime setâ and the volume button, then if you press the âtime setâ button again, its for 12 or 24 hrs.. ( I like 12 hrs). (note, you can use the Volume button for making the time later or earlier, or the tuner button, whatever you want it works)..Setting the Alarm, we only need one alarm, so just press âalarm1â for 3 seconds and then use the volume or tuner button to adjust the clock.. then press the alarm button again and have a choice if you want it to be âsoundâ âbeepâ or radio, just press the volume button up or down to pick between sound, beep and radio. If you pick sound, you will need to press âsoundâ in the top to adjust what sound you want..There are 2 sounds for the clock the sound you chose for the alarm, and the sound you pick for the machine. To set the sound level for the alarm---hold alarm 1 button for 3 seconds and it will blink the hourâpress alarm button again and it will blink the minutes..Press alarm1 button again and it will show the sound- you can make it Fm, Sound or beep, if you make it sound just press âSoundâ in the top right and you can pick which sound. Then final step, hold the Alarm1 button one more time and it will show you which volume of sound from 0-16. If you donât do this final step, you will not be controlling the loudness of the alarm, so press Alarm1 that final time!!!Note- the one tricky thing is that when you are setting the alarm, the volume for the sound that comes on- again when you are setting the alarm, and hear the sound volume, you are hearing the sound volume for the machine, NOT the alarm sound volume. If they had been smarter they would have made you hear the alarm sound volume.Again, there are 2 different settings for the sound- 1- alarm sound, and 2- the sound of the machine in general. There are 2 separate sounds and 2 separate volumes, but for some silly reason the volume you hear when setting the alarm, is the volume of the machine, not the volume of the alarm. And 2 different volumes for the machine the alarm volume and the machine volume. So, you can have the volume of the machine off and the volume of the alarm on. So remember to press the alarm1 button one last time after you see the âsound settingâ, so you can set the sound, this is something I was confused with.

My second Homedics alarm clock
I was quite fond of my first Homedics alarm clock with sounds, which preformed well for years before the projection lamp stopped working. After a few years of twisting my neck to check the clock at night, I decided to buy another projection clock when I found a Black Friday deal I couldn't refuse. The differences I first noticed in this clock and the last were:a) a lack of a dimmer on the projector (then again, maybe that was the cause of the failure in the first clock)b) the ascending alarm ramps up too fast and too loudc) the installed battery was dead. This one was a head scratcher, as in, if you install a backup battery in an unplugged clock what keeps the battery from draining until the clock is plugged in again?Complaints aside, I'm happy with this purchase.

3rd Purchase
This was my 3rd. purchase in 20 years plus. #1 Cord broke. Homedics replace for free. After falling to the floor many time. The radio is a little loose but the projection still works. #2 Projection light quit, radio is fine. I wish I could change the bulb in #1.works.fine #3 The new model the projection light is a nice blue color. The only thing that disappoints me no AM radio.

Again, poor FM reception
This is the 5th clock radio I have tried. In my experience, anything under $90-100 is not worth it if you want to wake up to radio. The two stations I like are strong in our area and easily tuned on the right radio. The buttons are larger, which makes it easier to set the time and alarm. The tuner does not tune out the hissy poor reception. They do NOT make clock radios like they used to! If you want a good radio you have to spend $90-100 at the minimum.

I will always buy this
I have had this exact clock/noise machine 2 times now, as I gave the first one away. It works really well. I don't use the little projector thing, as I don't see the point. But I like how this clock has multiple setting for the screen light, multiple sounds for the noise machine and has 2 alarms.
