Has given me and my tiny dogs warm Nights
I use this for the very top layer on my king sizebed. It has made the difference between being warm enough or not during this bitter winter and into the nippy spring. It stands up surprisingly well. Has saved me much more than the $50 cost in reduced heating bills, plus peace of mind. Very light weight, but it works. Has not ripped. I just love it!! So do my tiny dogs.

Great plant freeze protection
I have a hedge of oleanders that will die in a herd freeze (below 25). I covered 2/3 of the hedge with regular plant tarp, and 1/3 with Arcturus tarp. Almost all of the oleanders under regular tarp died and all of the oleanders under the Arcturus tarp were unharmed. My theory is the foil keeps the earth's heat from escaping radiantly.

They were great at Burning Man, yes and, unfortunately, they were stolen from the RV repair place..

Works but not perfect
I bought this to cool an outdoor play area for my pet rabbits. It does drop the temperature by several degrees and is noticeably cooler. My one disappointment is that there are multiple spots where the reflective coating is thin enough to see light through. These range in size from half an inch 2 inches across.

Heavy weight
I have used smaller and similar tarps in the past. I found that spraying lemon pledge on a soft cloth and wiping both sides of the tarp and folding it up keeps the plastic from sticking and increases the longevity of the tarp. This makes it easier to fold and unfold. (This reduces the chance of having the reflective finish sticking to the tarp and reduces flaking of the shiny side of the tarp. this will add more durability and longevity of the tarp.

It's big.
It's easy to read a product description and not quite figure out what it's telling you. Yes, 8.5 feet x 12 is big, but some thinner tarps can fold down to a pretty compact size. This isn't one of those tarps. Folded down, it's dimensions are 12 inches x 14 inches x 4 inches. It will take up a large amount of room in almost any pack. This really isn't a packing blanket or tarp. It's more like something to stow in your trunk or to keep in storage as an emergency or camping item. I haven't used it yet, so this is mostly just a size review to help others not make my blunder on the size to order.

Good protection and insulation for my camper roof
Fits like it was made to cover the roof of my pop-up camper, keeping off the tree sap and bird poop while providing an insulating layer to cut down the load on the furnace or A/C.
