Used to cut an in-wall frame for speakers. Powerful, but not smooth rounding corners
I ordered this product for home DIY projects. In particular, the c-shaped frame holding my in-wall speakers to the dry wall had began to warp. When I tried tightening the frame, it stressed the drywall to the point of almost cracking it. That would have been an expensive 'eye sore' in my media room. The manufacturer no longer makes replacement frames for this old speaker, so I had to make my own. I used an old piece of a wooden bed slat I had lying around and used pencil to mark the outline of the frame. I then powered up the jigsaw and went to work. I set the speed setting on # 2 , #1 setting is for DIY and #3 is for old wood. So, I decided #2 was most appropriate for bed slats. The straight line saw was fairly easy, the blade cut through slowly, but it wasnt exactly like butter. It was a little rough, but doable. Keeping my hand from getting too close to the blade was most important, because it is all too easy for the saw to jump or spurt a little when it finishes a cut and breaks free. I did not have any problems until I tried to round the corners. Working to create a nice curve left me feeling like the blade might crack. As I continued, I wondered whether if the blade did crack, if it would fly off the machine and into my thigh (or worse)! Luckily the blade did not break, but it felt quite hot and stressed from turning it at an angle. there are several blades in case it does break, but again, I am hoping it would simply drop to the floor. In the end, I finished the piece, sanded it and installed directly behind the drywall to hold the speaker. it now looks brilliant and this product saved me a lot of money from having to buy new speakers that fit the old cut out. I can only imagine what new DIY projects I can do with the saw. It is powerful, not all that smooth, and it is downright worrisome when I round corners. However, I am really happy that I have it. I just have to make sure I continue to minimize hazards.

Feels like a good hobbyist-level saw.
Nice comfortable, solid-feeling saw. The miter setting is only 45-90°, nothing in between. The roller bearing support makes for accurate cuts. I cut a price of 2x4 and the cut was nice and straight. The Allen wrench to change the miter is included and is conventially stored on the side of the saw. Blade changes are quick and easy. And NO, you cannot use a Dewalt battery with it. Not even close. It comes with a selection of blades to get you started, but I'd go for a better set.I'm sure it'll do what I need.

Awesome Jig Saw For Airplane Models
Loving the Avid 20v for my RC model airplane shop. The saw has plenty of power and quality wood and metal blades in a handy case are included. Plunge cuts are easy and that means no holes to drill for inside cuts and there's no cord to trip over. Quick connect single lever blade chuck makes it a 5-star tool.

Hard to cut straight lines.
Using this product, I've realized that cutting a straight cut is impossible to do. This saw doesn't have any blade stability. It starts off straight then begins to curve right. When I looked at it, the blade bracket doesn't hold the blade in stable positions causing it to flex to the right. For very thin wood maybe but anything past 1/2" and up, it won't cut straight.

Used this many times now!
Excellent product. I've never found myself needing a jigsaw, so I didn't want to spend big money on one for the 1 time I'd use it. I now have found myself using it on more projects and it works perfect every time. So far I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money.
